nice that you remembered the little things and noted how they had gone by the way. Revisiting the little things is a great way to show you are still in love. Sweet. I came by your blog looking for a stewed prune recipe. I know! Who should need a recipe for something like stewed prunes. MY grandmother always had stewed prunes. We loved 'em. I missed them after visiting with friends about favorites. ONe went on and one about a prune danish. I brought up prunes as in stewed prunes. They thought I was nuts. I love your retro food blog. I have that 1950 edition of Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook. Restoration Hardware carried a reprint a few years ago. I got neices and nephews one. SOme thought it was corny until they moved in on their own. One called me and said, I love that cookbook. It tells you EVERYTHING.
Her, Her for retro thought in the kitchen and in love.

Giggle. I was going to buzz RJ and tell her that you boiled potatoes without turning them into mash. I'm sure she will be disappointed to hear that she missed such an unusual thing. Heh.

And the potatoes were good - both nights.

Brilliant! I've never thought of reusing the boiled potatoes as anything other than boiled potatoes. I like the pesto idea and quick fries ideas best.

Since Charlie is only almost 7 years old he hsan't been involved in the political process too much yet. He has gone with us to vote and we've explained what voting is trying to keep it on his level.

Although he liked to gave me a heart attack at the last presidential election! We had the new electronic voting booths and being almost 4 years old he tried to start pushing buttons willy-nilly. I liked to killed him on the spot.

It is sort of a quirky cross food-like product: about the thickness of sour cream/greek yogurt, a bit like condensed cream of whatever soup, but cream cheese based. It comes in flavors or just "original" http://www.kraftbrands.com/philly/products/Pages/philadelphia-original.aspx

They were really good. Certainly less messy and time consuming and more environmentally friendly than those damn homemade veggie burgers I made years ago (and swore to never make again no matter how good they tasted.)

We have had a lot of really bad avocados that were rock hard all year. Aldi is the only place that seems to be consistently carrying ripe avocados and at a decent price.

I LOVE taco night! (But I liked it better when you still combined crumbles and beans). You should make tamale pie again, too. Just adding my two cents. :)
