Pizza Flavored Hot Cheese Dunk

Are you ready for some football snacks? That time of year is here, when even casual football viewers start to tune in to the games. Now, you already have your standby wings, pizza, dip and chips but really…don’t you want something retro fun?

How about something that combines “pizza flavor” AND makes for a cheese dip? Two in one! You couldn’t do better right? I have a solution for you AND it is “ready without heating the oven!”

Pizza-Flavored Hot Cheese Dunk

1 can condensed Cheddar cheese soup
2 slices (2 oz) aged natural Swiss Cheese (Swiss? Really?)
2 tablespoons ketchup (of course! How could it be a retro dunk without ketchup?)
1/2 teaspoon oregano, crushed (because that gives it “pizza flavor”)
1 small clove garlic, minced (oh just use a spoon of that pre-chopped stuff-I do.)
Toast, cut in squares (Toast? really? makes a good choice if you forgot the chips or ran out.)

In saucepan, combine all ingredients, EXCEPT toast. (very important-you don’t want to mix the toast into your dunk and have nothing to dunk with!) Heat until cheese melts. Stir now and then. To Serve, spear toast squares with fork. (with a fork-ala fondue–because you didn’t make toast fingers) dunk into hot cheese. Makes 1 1/4 cups dip.
