Vote for Christmas Main Dish

Ok, so I don’t want a Turkey. Denise says Ham. I say a really nice piece of beef with pepper crust. Mama will reminisce about Beef Wellington from the Williamsburg cookbook.

3 little kids and Mama will all definitely want meat. 2 big kids will definitely want meatless so will also be making a meatless entree.

So vote for the meat main dish below:
Ham
Turkey
Beef
Other (please share)

Also if you have a vegan main dish that is beautiful (but easy) for Christmas day–share!

  1. To be honest – by the time Christmas comes, I’m so sick of turkey and ham. I always dream of a beautiful dinner with a tender beef roast and mashed sweet potatoes or butternut squash – everyone else tends to expect the “same ole.” Beef Wellington? Definite YES!

  2. And while you are at the Wellington…you could just stuff some pastry with veggies & the like for the meatless dishes. 🙂

  3. We do ham for Christmas Eve. But now @cfd46 is working. So now I don’t know what the heck I’m doing Christmas Eve. I think my parents are beef-ing for Christmas Day this year.

  4. Out of those choices I’d always vote for ham. It’s not a popular answer in my family, but that would be my pick! (And so easy to cook; you can focus on the other dishes. Plus think of the bean soup you can make with the leftovers!)

  5. We always do turkey on Christmas day so really there’s no other option for us but if there was I’d probably go for either prime rib or beef tenderloin. And then you could make yorkshire pudding to go with it.

I kind of like the suggestion for beef wellington though but that could be because it’s been on my “to make” list since October.

We’re doing ham either on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. I’m not sure which yet.

  6. Ham.

  7. Hmmm, well it looks like Denise wants ham. Looks like we’re having ham this year too….Jory and Jesse are taking care of that. We always have a lot of turkey, but last Christmas as Julie’s, Jesse and Chris made a really delicious beef roast of some kind that everyone loved. Maybe you should go with beef this year…..unless of course Denise threatens your life….then give in to the ham. I don’t even know what other dishes we’re having…other than mashed potatoes. Julie, Jory, Jesse and Chris will be coming up with those…and Jenna is always the dessert lady. I kind of like sitting back and observing ‘all’ the chefs at work…and stepping in if needed. Good luck sweetie…I know whatever you come up with will be delicious. ~Joy
