Didn't people used to make this with canned sweet cherries? I think I have seen that recipe quite a few times. I bet kids would like the maraschino cherries better. Just what we needed - more sugar! :) Thanks for the reminder. Oh, if we weren't making "fizzy" jello, we always used fruit juice instead of the cold water.
