Happy Sock Day

Happy Sock Day! Some of you may think today marks Easter. It does. Around this house though, the 12th of April marks a very special day though. This blog turns three years old today.

It is and was a gift in honor of the first sock day in 2001. On that day, the world stopped spinning for a few moments and I built my first website. That website part incidental to the spin of the world, but curiously related. Love does strange things.

In honor of Sock Day, a recipe that is well loved:

Cheese Straws

1/2 pound extra sharp cheddar cheese
2 sticks butter
1 3/4 cup flour
1 t. salt
1/2 t. paprika
1 t. tabasco

Grate cheese, blend with butter and add Tabasco. Sift flour, add salt and pepper. Mix two thoroughly. Squeeze through pastry tub in 3 1/2 in. strips on ungreased cookie sheet. Or roll out and cut in desired shapes then score with fork. Bake at 375 about 10 minutes.

  2. Happy Blogiversary! I haven’t made cheese straws in ages but I remember they were yummy, somehow I always managed to burn the bottoms though.

  3. Thanks Rochelle! As for burning the bottoms…put them on an upper rack in your oven and don’t wait for them to brown on top.
