Cocktail Tidbits

We had a lot of delicious little tidbits at Blogher but nothing like this. It appears to be a clipping from a magazine from who knows when…the 50s? 60s? This basically is a snack mix, sort of like a chex mix…but not. I am amused by the cans of nuts and pecan as well as coconut. (though I suppose you can still get coconut in cans). Still… this snack mix is yummy, so grab your dripping pan and get to it!

In a big dripping pan mix together the following: a 6-ounce package small cheese crackers, two 6 1/4  ounce packages king size corn chips, 2 cans toasted coconut chips, one 8-ounce can walnuts, two 6-ounce cans pecans and 1 quart freshly popped corn. add 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, 1 clove garlic, crushed, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon curry powder, several dashes hot pepper sauce and 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce to 1/2 pound melted butter. Sprinkle over mixture, tossing as you add. Put in slow oven, 250 degrees F. for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Drain on absorbent paper. Makes about 6 quarts.
