Grilled Cheese and Bacon Sandwiches

YUM. Why is grilled cheese so hard to get away from home? Why can’t I go get a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch? Grilled cheese is sooooooooooooo yummy. Even this pretty processed one sounds good. Really good. Really, really, really good. I want grilled cheese and I want it now! Does anyone know a way to make grilled cheese at the office?

10 slices enriched bread
10 thin slices  American  Cheese
3 tablespoons prepared mustard
10 slices bacon, ½ lb.

Toast bread lightly. Cover each slice with a slice of cheese, then spread cheese with mustard. Cut each slice of bacon in half and lay 2 half slices on top of the cheese. Grill in broiler under low heat until bacon is crisp and cheese is melted and slightly browned. Serve hot with sweet or dill pickles. 10 open-face sandwiches.  The Modern Family Cookbook

  1. I love grilled cheese! (not with bacon, yuk)

  2. Yes! Yes! Bacon grilled cheese!

  3. You are completely correct skeeter. Much better buttered, grilled and yummy.

That recipe should more properly be called a toasted or broiled cheese sandwich.

Of course, in my opinion, pickle never goes ON a grilled cheese sandwich.

  4. Heck I’d go for just grilled bacon sandwiches … hmm… I’l brb

    Rob 🙂

  5. You can totally get a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch at places like Denny’s and what not. I LOVE grilled cheese too!!!

  6. No Denny’s in town. Zaxby’s has a grilled cheese but they are on the other end of town and there seems to be no grilled cheese in walking distance.

  7. I never heard of bacon on a cheese sandwich. Gotta try that!
