Applecot Sauce

Filed under: Fruits, Recipes, retro food — Retro Food

Now this sounds like a good idea…I do like apricots AND apple sauce

Applecot Sauce

¼ lb. dried apricots
1½ lbs. tart apples (5 or 6 medium sized)
½ cup sugar

Wash apricots, soak for 4 hours in enough water to cover (about 1½ cups), then simmer for 10 minutes. Pare, core and slice washed apples. Put apple slices on top of the apricots, cover, and simmer until the apples are tender, from 10 to 15 minutes. Thoroughly mix the sugar with the fruits and simmer 2 minutes longer. Serve hot or cold, strained or unstrained, as desired. 5 or 6 servings. The Modern Family Cookbook
