Boiled Bologna

Filed under: retro food — Retro Food

Now I like fried bologna…but boiled? For dinner?

Boiled Bologna

Cook a one-pound piece of bologna with the casing on. Cover with boiling water and simmer 15 minutes in a covered kettle. Lift out and remove casing. Serve on hot platter, cut in ΒΌ-inch slices and overlapped. Garnish with parsley. 5 servings. The Modern Family Cookbook

  1. Can you imagine serving that to our children? Maybe we should do it, heh. Just for fun.

  2. Hi, just wondering how you did your categories section. (Sorry it\’s not related to Bologna!!)

  3. Categories was decided roughly by looking through a few dozen cookbooks and narrowing it down to the most basic category headings, then flipping through my mother and grandmother’s recipe card categories. In the beginning I had more but they became unmanageable, though I sometimes consider adding back the jello category.

  4. Wait, were you asking about how I did it or the magic behind it? Because the magic behind it is all wordpress categories that came from how Wordpress works on blogs.

  5. Think laterally! Its like serving a german sausage like bockvurst etc etc. Would go well with boiled potatoes and cabbage I think…

  6. I love the advice to garnish with parsley.

I guess everything looks better with parsley.
