Soda and Crisco makes a fine cake. It makes an even nicer pound cake. Oddly, and no doubt for some of you pound cake purists, wrongly, this cake has icing to go on top.

7-Up Pound Cake

1 c Crisco
1/2 c butter
1 sm. bottle 7-up (7 oz.?)
2 ¾ c sugar
5 eggs
3 c flour
2 tsp vanilla

Cream shortening, butter, and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time. Mix in flour and vanilla. Add 7-up. Bake 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325°

Icing

1/2 stick margarine
4 oz. cream cheese
3/4 box powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Cream margarine and cheese. Add sugar and flavoring.
