Shredded Carrot, Apple and Orange Salad

I swear, this says cup mayonnaise, with no number, so choose what looks right. I am thinking 1/4 to 1/2 cup? This sounds like a nice salad for the hot days of fall, apples, oranges and carrots don’t seem very August to me at all but in any case, it is a nice twist on the retro favorite carrot and raisin salad.
3 medium-size carrots
2 juicy eating apples
2 seedless oranges
cup mayonnaise
Crisp lettuce

Wash, scrape, and shred carrots. Wash and core apples; pare if desired, then cut in dice. Peel and dice or slice oranges. Combine carrots, apples and oranges with the mayonnaise, tossing gently. Chill. When ready to serve, heap lightly on lettuce cups on individual salad plates. 5 servings.
