Cole Slaw

July 22, 2006 by Tarrant Figlio

Speaking of cole slaw, here is another method, a nice basic recipe:
3 cups shredded cabbage
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
2 or 3 tablespoons sweet or sour cream (gotta love the retro “sweet cream”)
Choose crisp, tender cabbage for cole slaw. Have it chilled. Trim head, cut in quarters and just before serving, shred with a very sharp knife. Measure cabbage weel packedĀ  into the cup. Combine mayonnaise with salt, sugar and cream. Add to cabbage and toss until it is well coated with dressing. One tomato or 1/2 green or sweet red pepper cut fine, or 1/4 cup chopped sweet pickles, may be added to cabbage along with dressing for variation in color and flavor. 5 servings.
