From The Modern Family Cookbook
5 squares (5 oz.) baking chocolate
1½ cups water
1¾ cups sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup white corn syrup
2 tablespoons butter
Add chocolate to water, bring to boil and cook 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Add sugar, salt, corn syrup and boil 4 minutes longer, continuing to stir. Remove from heat, add butter and beat until blended. Serve hot or cold as a sauce for ice cream, puddings or cake; or use as a base for hot or cold chocolate drinks, allowing 2 tablespoons for each cup of hot or cold milk. About 2¾ cups.
