Vanilla Crisps

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shortening (half butter)

1 cup sugar

2 eggs, beaten

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Sift flour, measure and resift with baking powder and salt. Cream shortenings and blend in sugar well. Add eggs and beat until thoroughly combined. Stir in vanilla. Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Drop small rounds on a cookie sheet dusted with flour. Bake in a moderately hot oven (400 degrees F.) about 8 minutes, or until delicately browned. Makes 5 dozen 2-inch cookies.
