Retro-Food of the Week: Appetizers
The retro-food of the week this week is appetizers. You know, those things you really love to eat but are ashamed to actually admit in a lot of cases. Maybe some you are not ashamed to admit you love. Some will be ones that are best left to the pretty pages of a frightening cookbook. I mean really, did you see this one. Scarey, but…wouldn’t you love to see one of those creations at the next potluck you attend? Or something similar?
So tell me, what appetizer of yesteryear are you hoping will make a comeback?

I find it’s rare that you see devilled eggs anymore. Then again, I rarely go to parties where they have appetizers so maybe I’m wrong?
And I love appetizers. I often make a meal out of them.

One person always shows up with devilled eggs at our work parties, I am not sure who but I KNOW there are never enough. Ever.

You never see deviled eggs, monkey? Weird. I didn’t think you were allowed to have a party without them. Maybe they are only losing favor in the great north?

I think it’s more that I rarely go to parties where anything is homemade. Anything I’ve been to in the last few years was either student-run and usually involved salsa, chi, pizza and lots of beer, or were catered and caterers in the two cities I’ve lived in don’t seem to be on the devilled egg wagon. Lots of spinach dip and smoked salmon, but no devilled eggs.
I make them at home sometimes. And then realize I’ve just eaten 4 eggs in 5 minutes. lol
